Nerds und Geeks als Comedy: “The Big Bang Theory”

Das Nerds komisch sind, ist einem spätestens seit “Dilbert” bekannt. Doch in letzer Zeit scheinen viele Sender erst das ganze komödiantische Potenzial von Technikfreaks und kommunikationsgestörten Neurotikern zu erkennen…

Die britische Serie “The IT-Crowd” oder die neue CBS-Serie “The Big Bang Theory” zeigen diesen Trend zum Nerdtum .

Bei “The Big Bang Theory” dreht es sich um die beiden Wissenschaftler Leonard und Sheldon, und deren hübsche Nachbarin Penny, die die akribisch geordnete Welt der beiden Nerds und ihrer Freunde mit ihrer natürlichen Art durcheinanderwirbelt.

Alte Bekannte trifft man in dieser Serie in Form von Leonard (Johnny Galecki, David aus “Roseanne”), der tief religiösen Mutter Sheldons (Laurie Metcalf, Jackie aus “Roseanne”), und Leslie (Sara Gilbert, Darlene aus, drei mal dürft ihr raten….”Roseanne”) . Das mag vielleicht daran liegen, dass der gleiche Produzent wie damals mitgewirkt hat, der auch für “Dharma und Greg”, sowie “Two and a half men” als Autor und ausführender Produzent verantwortlich war: Chuck Lorre.

Die Serie ist recht unterhaltsam, hat einige Seitenhiebe auf amerikanische Politik, Popkultur und Intelligent Design parat und dürfte nach dem Ende des Writer’s Strike noch mindestens eine weitere Staffel aushalten, ehe es langweilig werden könnte.

Nachtrag: Bei erneutem Durchlesen schon fast prophetisch, den CBS hat der Serie eine weitere Staffel gegönnt (nach dem Seasonfinale “The Tangerine Factor”). Jetzt hat auch Pro7 zugeschlagen und sich die Serie für Deutschland lizenziert. Wann gesendet wird, ist noch unklar. Auch ob die deutsche Synchro da mithält bleibt abzuwarten.

Übrigens: Alle Folgen, bis auf die Erste, die einfach nur “Pilot” genannt wurde, setzen sich zusammen aus einem Thema der Folge und einem wissenschaflichen Prinzip.
